About EchoTown

THE ECHOTOWN STUDIO STORY

Echotown Studio is a purpose-built studio, designed and created in 2022. It was inspired by our love for the heritage of the classic studio but also in building one of the first fully accessible studios in the UK.

It is co-owned by singer-songwriter Nick Capaldi, who knew exactly what he wanted as a musician and made it a reality. Nick’s vision was to own an affordable, inclusive studio with quality, unrivalled gear in a location that provides both inspiration and tranquillity. This was a space he had never experienced before.

Being an unsigned artist, they were either too expensive or they were in a windowless room or had the most boring views (mainly car parks). He also found when visiting previous studios with his wife Grace, how inaccessible a lot of them are, so he was determined to make sure Echotown Studio broke the mould.

Nick’s vision was completed in March 2022. A purpose-built recording studio was opened to the public and has received deserved glowing praise and approval from its clients. Its combination of being professional but homely with added quirks has built it a fast reputation for being one of the best world class studios in the UK amongst serious musicians, authors, engineers and producers.

One of our main goals when designing the studio was to make everything as inclusive as we possibly could. In doing so we have spent much of our time researching and reaching out for advice and have made some wonderful friends along the way.”

ACCESSIBLITY IN OUR STUDIO COMES AS STANDARD

Providing an inclusive, comfortable environment is very important to us. We believe that the best results come from a stress and worry free environment. During the studio build, we regularly touched base with Drake Music and visually impaired producer Jason Dasent to guide us.

Our goal is to cater for everyone and if you have any queries, please reach out to us so we can make your time with us as productive as possible. Some of the inclusive decisions we have made are focussed around being comfortable for both physical and learning difficulties.

We are wheelchair friendly, all on one level with easy-to-use doors that don’t compromise the sound and ample parking right outside the studio. Within the control room, we have a height adjustable computer desk and enough space to comfortably move around without needing to move furniture out of the way.

We have accessible instruments/equipment for different dexterities including the Arcana, Komplete Kontrol Keyboards, Avid S1s and Active Hands. Even if you have loss of movement in one or both of your hands or struggle with sight problems, we can guide you through using these instruments to create the sound you are looking for.

We have an analogue mixer for anyone who benefits from the sensory of touch or a digital mixer on an iPad with voice activation to control it. We also hold workshops for groups with different physical/learning disabilities with Diverse Abilities being regular clients of ours. Nothing beats letting go and singing along to your favourite songs.

There is also an accessible kitchenette and toilet in the recreation room.
